It's your turn to get involved!
Yes, it's your turn. We have many capable and willing members who have the talents and skills and desire to lead our chapter. This is your opportunity to make a positive difference…….do it now. Our chapter by-laws call for the membership to elect the Chapter Officers (President, Vice- President, and Secretary), and for the officers to appoint Committee Chairs.
We have the following elected positions open for 2009:
- President - 1 year term
- Vice President - 1 year term
- Secretary - 2 year term
We have the following committee chairs open (All are 2 year terms):
- Handicap Chair
- Events Chair
- Leadership Chair
- Membership Chair
You can nominate yourself or someone else from the membership who you feel would be an asset to our leadership and foster the growth of our chapter. Here is a brief description of each position.
President:
- Serves as presiding officer of the Board
- Sets overall direction and goals for the Board
- Sets agenda for meetings and appoints special committees as needed
- Ensures Chapter is in compliance with all requirements and serves as liaison between chapter and Association Headquarters
Vice President:
- Takes the place of the President as necessary
- Performs duties as prescribed by the Board
- Assists President in implementing Chapter business and goals
Secretary:
- Maintains all records and Chapter governing documents
- Records and distributes minutes of all meetings
- Responsible for corporation filings with the state as needed
Handicap Chair:
- Ensures compliance with USGA policies and procedures for obtaining a Handicap.
- Provides oversight and management of the computerized Association Handicap System.
- Assists with verification and proper use of Handicap Indexes for Chapter members for Chapter and Association competitions and golf events.
Membership Chair:
- Develops Chapter membership goals and sets objectives for new member growth and retention of existing members
- Develops strategies to oversee execution of plans to achieve membership goals
- Ensures that the Chapter strives to create a welcoming environment for all members
- Handles member applications, renewal notices and dues processing
- Understands members' needs and ensures members' needs are met
Events Chair:
- Develop Chapter goals and set objectives for calendar of golf events
- Develop strategies to oversee implementation and execution of plans to achieve golf event goals.
- Plan the schedule and format of all golf events.
- Negotiate golf contracts with golf courses for all events
- Develop and maintain policies for event registration, fees, refunds, guests
Leadership Chair
- Establish and implement plan and programs for recruiting and retaining volunteers for Chapter operations, Board, events and activities
- Identify needs and recommend and coordinate Chapter volunteer orientation and training
- Develop, implement and maintain Chapter volunteer recognition program.
