Team Play

AS THE CAPTAINS SAW IT - by Michele Gunner

Sunny day in Roseville, perfect for golf.  Our location, Morgan Creek Golf Course, and our hosts, Sacramento Team 1. A new format is being tried out this year. All of the chapter teams are playing the same day at the same location. So 48 EWGA members started a 1:00 shotgun. It was great to see so many familiar faces out on the course.

Morgan Creek is a very interesting course. If you ski, think moguls. Mounds everywhere. Oh, and did I mention the rough on the mounds? So many opportunities to perfect the "rough mound shot." But I dare say most of us did not. Pace of play was a little slow. Well, actually, the turtle on the 10th fairway moved faster than most of the groups! Thanks to Eileen for moving the turtle out of harm's way.

SMN played well against the team from the Reno chapter. The duos of Carolyn Stull and Martha Hagler, Eileen Knapp and Michele Gunner, Meg Thompson and Sacha Bunge & Jenny Shone and Bridget Wilson played for our chapter's honor.  Three of the four pairs won their matches.

The standing after the first team event are as follows:

Sacramento  1 --   20 points

Sacramento  2  --  20 points

SMN --   18 points

Reno  --  6 points

NE Bay  --  4 points

Stockton --  Bye

Next up ...  playing against the North East Bay team at Hiddenbrooke on May 20.

A special shout out and thanks to Bridget Wilson and Eileen Knapp for filling in on short notice.  You both ROCK.
